Disclaimer, I own both a desktop and a $3000 mac. So can't say I'm biased.

Windows:
Pros:
Fast
Many programs
Generally less in price than others
Optimized for playing games
Mostly all hardware is compatible
Mostly everything on linux/mac is for windows
Can customize themes and screensavers
If you need it, it can be done
Most universal operating system with the most support
Directx 11 is so beautiful you'll never go outside
Can easily replace hardware in half an hour
Cons:
If you are not informed you can get viruses/scammed
Hardware can fail

Mac:
Pros:
Best for media design and work.
Some of the best integration of social media
For the most part virus free
Cons:
Pricey
Often break on you and then you have to go through apple for repair
Updates costs you money
Can't run 90% of games
Chances of running a windows program is slim to none even with the use of wine.
Bootcamp really isn't that great, it's a pain to switch for the smallest thing
Stuck using OpenGL which is subpar compared to DirectX
You can not swap parts to upgrade your mac
Can only play some video types
Finding stuff is a pain
All Microsoft products are slow (I.E Word/Excel/Power Point)

Linux:
Pros:
Open sourced
Able to do pretty much anything
Able to code your own operating system essentially
Thousands of applications to use
Complex
Stable
Flexible
Customization
Free
Cons:
Limited hardware
Need to really be into computer science or else everything is a pain
Super complex
Need to read guides for a while
One mistake and you can fry hardware
Limited software
