Destiny: New Strikes To Focus On More Teamwork Mechanics, Addressing PvP And Legendary Marks.

Now that Destiny: The Taken King has officially launched, we have a better idea about what Bungie’s goals have been all along. Luke Smith, Bungie’s Creative Director for the game recently sat down with Planet Destiny for its Podcast and explained a number of different ways the company went about trying to fix the problems that have plagued Destiny since day one. The exec also talked about some new strikes and Legendary Marks.
When it comes to putting legendary marks in to this game, Smith told Planet Destiny, “Regarding Legendary Marks, Bungie wanted to make Marks important again and give players tough choices as to what to purchase. The same concept goes for Motes of Light, giving players options to use them for experience, give them to factions or stockpile them for infusion.” Smith also talked about the way the teamwork mechanics that have been recently added are geared towards helping players deal with new strikes better.
At the same time, Smith wanted to make sure everyone knew that the new mechanics might not be ones that mirror those in the raid. That reason is because the raids would always have to come before the strikes and that isn’t always the case in this game. Speaking of cooperation mechanics, Smith said they’ve been working hard to keep the crucible light and fun for everyone who plays it. He also added that, “because you can design your character so specifically in Destiny, it’s hard to convince people that it can be competitive.”

Starting on October 13, players will be able to buy new character emotes using a new currency called silver. The first taste is free, but you’ll need to spend real world cash to buy more silver.
A few weeks ago, one of Destiny's Tower vendors – a woman named Tess Everis – mysteriously disappeared from the game. On October 13, she’ll return with a new role and a new storefront. Tess will be setting up the Eververse Trading Company, a store that will allow Destiny players to exchange a new currency called Silver for one of eighteen brand new emotes, similar to those offered via The Taken King Collector’s Edition.
Silver can be bought with real world money through the stores associated with each console, but pricing details won’t be available until October 13.
Bungie's blog was careful to point out that these items will have no impact a players' performance in the game itself. “If you’re not interested in what Tess has to offer, you won’t ever be forced to pluck an item off of her shelf. You’ll still receive updates to the game, and you won’t lose a Crucible encounter or fail to clear a Raid because you didn’t have the right Eververse Trading Company emote equipped. Our plan is to use these new items to bolster the service provided by our live team for another full year, as they grow and create more robust and engaging events that we’ll announce later this year.”
All Destiny players will receive a small amount of silver for free next Tuesday, so you can buy a at least a few emotes without paying for them.

            Our Take
This is likely to be a controversial decision among the Destiny community. While Bungie has stated that these emotes won't impact a player's performance, we're sure that some players will worry that this could open the door to other purchases. It wouldn't be totally out of the realm of possibility for Bungie to start selling Legendary or even Exotics items for real world cash at some point down the line.

                        Another Off topic post: http://www.gamesradar.com/taken-king...-voice-acting/

Once upon a time, Game of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage was slated to be the voice of Destiny's AI helper, Ghost. Everyone was excited. Then the game shipped, we learned where wizards come from, and people generally shook their heads in disapproval at Dinklage's delivery. But where did it go wrong, and why was Dinklage replaced by Nolan North when Bungie and Activision released The Taken King a year later? We asked Taken King creative director Luke Smith on a recent GamesRadar+ stream, who had some refreshingly honest answers about our little Dinklebot/Nolandroid.

"I think that the Ghost is a really great metaphor for Destiny in this way where, I don't know that we, as Bungie, understood the type of game that Destiny could be," Smith said. "In the same way, I feel like a bunch of the early writing for the Ghost, in vanilla, we didn't understand what the character of the Ghost could be. And because we didn't understand that character so well, the words don't always ring super well and the performance didn't have the writing that it needed either."

Unfortunately, as a game developer, you don't always have time or resources to fix things up as much as you (or your audience) would like. In talking about such trade-offs, Smith said that it was "better to ship and learn something" than to indefinitely polish something. Of course, knowledge is no good if it's just sat on, so you have to take what you've learned and apply it. He explained that part of the reason why The Taken King is so cutscene and dialogue-heavy is due to this, giving kudos to his co-workers for their contributions in making the expansion come together.
"We had to make a bunch of mistakes to learn how we wanted to do it better," Smith said.

                          https://www.pixeldynamo.com/news/gam...ns-new-secret/

Guardians have been scouring Destiny‘s daily mission for new secrets ever sinceplayers discovered the exotic sniper rifle Black Spindle in the daily heroic Lost to Light.
We’ve known since last week that the mission Paradox would likely also contain a secret after players managed to glitch their way through a raid portal in Vault of Glass, and recover the Ghost of Praedyth. Today we finally have a legitimate way of acquiring said Ghost, with Paradox as the daily three new Ghosts can be picked up to open the portal and battle a mini-boss, the Blighted Descendant.

The three Ghosts can be found on the alternate paths between areas:
                          • In the secret area below the raid first chest as you enter the vault
                          • Along the spirit bloom chest after the templar
                          • In the cave before the inactive platform before the portal
Once the third Ghost has been collected the portal activates and a jumping puzzle to the portal provides passage into the secret area.
The portal leads into the same region used for Venus in the fight against Aetheon, filled with Taken and the Blighted Descendant. Stay on top of the Taken spawns and use cover effectively for an easy kill.

Finding each Ghost unlocks a new Grimoire card, handing in the Ghost acquired from the chest after defeating the Blighted Descendant unlocks a fourth.
As to what this secret triggers, we don’t know just yet. Upon handing in the Ghost to the Future War Cult representative at the tower the trail goes cold. Players are obviously hopeful that this could be the start of the Sleeper Simulant quest line, although it’s also plausible that it’s related to the exotic pulse rifle No Time to Explain. Then again it could just be a neat additional section for players willing to explore.
